Germany and Amsterdam enjoy wide-ranging as its one of Amsterdam and surrounding countries (see map of Amsterdam and surrounding countries), close and friendly bilateral relations at the level of both government and civil society. There are intensive contacts between their members of government and parliament at national and Land level. The Dutch royal couple, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima, visited Bremen on 6 March 2019 and Land Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Land Brandenburg from 20 to 22 May 2019.
Although the Flemish part of Belgium was part of Amsterdam until 1830, the countries are quite different (see map of Amsterdam and surrounding countries), and that is also the case in the two parts of Belgium itself which is one of Amsterdam and surrounding countries. Therefore, a brief history of public relations in Amsterdam and Belgium intersects three different stories: a story of the development of public relations as public information in Amsterdam in the 19th century; a story of public relations as propaganda and press agentry in the 20th century in the French-speaking part of Belgium; and a story of public relations as public affairs and public information in the Flemish part of the country.
The English and Amsterdam have much in common: their love of the sea, a sober outlook on life, a commercial disposition (see map of Amsterdam and surrounding countries). England (its one of Amsterdam and surrounding countries) and Amsterdam were the first European countries to have a constitutional government, a Protestant culture and an overseas empire. These resemblances might be the very reason for the great rivalry that prevailed for such a long time between the two nations.
